WHEN IN BEIJING

What I saw of Beijing was not what I expected. The whole city was under construction and for the most part very modern. There were, of course, not so modern parts, but I'm sure it is only a matter of time before everyone will be living in a nice, high rise apartment, and be driving an Audi. Everyone is equal under Communism...right??

There were plenty of high rise apartment buildings, and many more being built. The place was beginning to look a lot like Hong Kong.

There was just about every style of architecture you could think of.

The famous Wang Fu Jing shopping district sported such places as a seven story shopping mall where you could get just about anything that you could get in a shopping mall in America, and for about the same price.

Wang Fu Jing was also where the first MacDonald's in China was built. I walked by, but didn't go in. It was pretty busy in there.
