Above is a picture of the group of brave souls that survived the whole trip through the Qinghai province along with one of the project's principal investigators. From left to right they are Rong'yi QIAN, Wenjie JIAO, Zhong'tao LI, Guang'cai CHEN, He'ping SU, and Hai'ou LI. Rong'yi was an instructor at the Institute of Geological Sciences. Wenjie was one of the the principal investigators for the project. He had to leave after the installation of the first station to work on another project in the Hunan province so he missed out on most of the fun. Zhong'tao and Guang'cai were our drivers. They drove a long way and did a really good job of it. He'ping worked for the Institute of Geology in Beijing. Hai'ou was a student at the Institute of Geological Sciences in Beijing.
Above Ming ZHANG on the left, a student at the Institute of Aeronautics and a friend of Ya'jun WANG's on the right, a student at the Institute of Geological Sciences, along with Rong'yi in the picture above were my babysitters while I was in Beijing. They did a really good job. I got to see more of Beijing than I ever thought I would.
Above is Xiao'feng ZENG on the left who was a professor at the Institute of
Geological Sciences in Beijing. I'm second from the left. Ya'jun WANG was
in the picture above. Xin'sheng DENG on the right was a graduate student at
the Institute of Geological Sciences.
I didn't get a picture of them, but there were three ladies that worked for
the Institute of Geology which treated me to a very nice lunch one day. They
were Mei'ling XIE, He'ping SU's wife Guang'qi XUE, and Ya'jing LU.
So that's about it. I got to see more of China than I even knew there was and these pages only cover part of it. I certainly want to thank everyone in Beijing at the Institute of Geology, and the Institute of Geological Sciences, everyone out in Xining for everything that they did for me, and all of the little people along the way that made this a great trip.
