The walk from the new part of town to the old part was quite nice.
The downtown area was centered around a central plaza with a large church, which is not in the picture below.
I walked past this house in the picture below both going to town and on my way back to the new part of town. When I first saw it I thought it was fake, but it turned out that it was not. It was real stork nest with a real stork with some real baby storks in it. I thought these kinds of things only happened in novels by Charles Dickens?
Some of the old houses and buildings in this section of town were very pretty. Everyone also seemed to have a portion of their yard set aside for a garden. A few of the houses that I passed had very nice flower gardens from which they sold flowers.
The train station in Brzeg Dolny.
Below is the ubiquitous Fiat Polski car. They didn't look like much, but we
routinely saw four large people climbing in and out of Polski's around town,
so they must have been plenty roomy on the inside. Galen picked up the Polski
below right after I took his picture so we could have a look at the bottom.
I had high hopes for my nearly week long trip to Poland. I had planned to visit the towns of Opole and Lugendorf which were both just on the other side of Wrocław. Two of my great-grand parents came from them. Unfortunately I did WAY too much walking in Praha my last day there, in shoes that were WAY too new. The result was that I got to sit in the shower in the hotel in Brzeg Dolny and soak my blister-covered feet nearly one whole day. There was one other day out of the five where I could barely even walk. Foreign travel is so glamorous. At least it was a nice shower with an electrical outlet nearby. I was able to work on these web pages on my laptop while sitting there. For the record soaking your feet in this particular situation really doesn't do that much good.
